New enrolments are accepted at our school at any time of the year on school days and we look forward to welcoming new enrolments to our school community.
Prep and all primary school enrolments

Prep is the first compulsory year of school and provides the foundation for your child's education. It is compulsory for Queensland children to undertake Prep prior to Year 1. Prep is a full-time program in primary schools and has a defined curriculum. Children attend Monday to Friday, generally from 9.00am to 3.00pm.
Children must be at least 5 by 30 June in the year they enrol for Prep.
Kindy enrolments
Kindy, is for 3 and 4 year old children as the first non-compulsory year if your child is too young for Prep. Children attend kindy for 15 hours per week. The closest Kindy to our school is available through the C&K Port Douglas Community Kindergarten, on our school grounds.

To enrol your child at Port Douglas State School follow these easy steps:
Step 1 - Enrolment application
Complete the Application for student enrolment (PDF, 2.2MB) for each for each child. This may be downloaded or collected from the school office. Please note that the Religion question must be completed.
Complete all permission forms for each child. These may be downloaded or collected from the school office.
Step 2 - Enrolment interview
Attend an enrolment interview with a member of our administration team. Please ring the school office to organise a suitable time.
Don’t forget to bring:
Your child so that we may meet them.
Each child’s original birth certificate.
Each child’s latest report card if they have attended another school.
Each child’s current passport and visa documents if born overseas.
